Monday is here again and I find myself thinking on the things that really matter in life. There’s so much that we do in a day, with our minds and with our time. We are rushing by to get somewhere, many times not really sure where or why but we are rushing.
I catch myself so often forgetting to slow down. These are specials days I am living and I am not getting them back. These are the days when I need to stop and watch the most amazing”miracles” grow before my eyes. This are the days where there is opportunities all through the day to influence who my kids will be. These are the days that I want to keep my eyes open and take the time to take it all in!! These are the days that will be gone too soon!!
I read a book many years ago called “Momo” It is about a little orphan girl who had the special gift of being a really good listener and could always hear things others couldn’t. One day, she realized that there were little gray men stealing time from people by asking them to put it into a time savings account and then they kept the time all for themselves. This made the people that were trying to save time, lifeless and the more time they saved the less they had, the time they saved was actually a loss to them in many different ways. Relationships were broken, joy was taken away and they all even started to dress the same.
When I think of this book it makes me wonder, how many ”little gray men” we have allowed into our lives, taking precious times we could have spent with our families, memories that could have been made, lives that could have been changed, and opportunities that could have been taken. All of this wasted away because we are trying to ”accomplish something” or we are too busy doing anything of real importance. I specially feel convicted of this in the area of discipline with my kids. Wanting results that I can SEE quickly, without thinking that it is most important to touch and TEACH the heart ! Teaching the heart does have a price and that price is ”time”!! Time that many times I feel, it is running out.
As moms we have been given two of the greatest possessions one could have; our families and precious time! Although we never know how long our ultimate time on earth will be, let’s remember to slow down, enjoy life, and be thankful for the gifts we have been given. We really are watching the most amazing miracles grow before our eyes!! What a privilege and responsibility! I pray that we will be diligent to accomplish all we need to accomplish in our daily lives while we still remember to slow down and to accomplish the most important purposes of God in our lives. Let’s be intentional to enjoy the blessings HE has given us….. the things that really matter in life!
