Thankful…

A few months ago, I was challenged  through a book, to be intentional to look for the little “gifts”  and blessings in my life and give thanks for them. I did already always give thanks to God for my food, thanks for a new day, health, my kids etc but this time, being on a specific mission to look for the little things  which I am blessed with, was eye opening and life changing.  Only a few days after I started doing it, I could sense my heart so much lighter and  I was able to see through difficult things during my day with a very different attitude.

One of the enemy’s greatest weapon in our lives is ungratefulness. If we can be blinded by the awesome blessings that God has given us, we are on our way to a life of disappointment with God and people around us. A life of grumbling, complaining, selfishness, not fulfilling the plans that God has for our lives, and ultimately our hearts separated from Him.

Thankfulness on the other hand, is life giving, grace giving, life changing and is one of the keys to a life filled with joy. You can’t be thankful and depressed at the same time. Thankful hearts are full of joy!!  It allows us  to see that no matter where we are or what we are going through, big or little, God is good!!!! His goodness and grace surrounds us!!!

Thinking on the blessings I have received and inspired by the amazing book 1000 gifts by Ann Voskamp,  I will be having a “thankful” week on my blog. I know, it’s not thanksgiving yet, but every day I will be sharing some ideas on creating opportunities in our families to be thankful.

Promoting a culture of thankfulness to God and others in our homes and lives, in every day life, is like blowing some fresh cool air in a terribly hot and sticky day. I do hope you will be refreshed by the end of the week! :)
